Trying to nap

This bird seemed to be trying to catch some zzz's. It stood completely still with it's bill tucked away and would close it's eyes for a few seconds at a time. I have a hard time identifying shorebirds. I'll guess some kind of sandpiper but would love to hear from an expert birder. (I'm in CT USA)

@sgtpepper I know, I get very annoyed when the paparazzi come by when I'm trying to nap! In truth I was quite far away and it didn't seem at all bothered by my presence.
