Just waiting for the ospreys

The platforms are ready for the ospreys to return and start making their nests. They are all numbered for some sort of record keeping and observation I assume. There are some gulls sitting on a couple of them enjoying the view for now!

Never knew they did this sort of thing for the ospreys.Have these been used in past years?? Will they use them that close together?

@rontu @milaniet Actually these aren't as close as they look in this shot. I was using a long lens which compresses everything. I was surprised when I saw the shot at how close they looked.

@rontu They have been using them for years and the osprey populations have been coming back nicely after getting to a dangerously low level.

That would be exciting -- to be able to go to where you know they are landing. We've had one nesting each year in a cell tower on Beaver Island, but it's so high up that they are hard to see/view.

Very cool...the Osprey here usually make their nest in high trees or other high objects. Would make photographing them easier if they would nest lower like this. Great shot.
