Fort Saybrook Wheels by mccarth1

Fort Saybrook Wheels

Another shot taken from my car to avoid the wind and rain.
Love the wheels; The style inside is very nice-should be on the outside, unless it has a purpose!

I hadn't heard of Fort Saybrook and Googled it. I learned that a railroad was built on the sight of a fortification that dates back to the 1600's, thus the wheels. Both the fort and the railroad are gone and there is a park here, now. If this photo is any indication, I would love to explore there and learn more of the history.

@rvwalker Thanks Ross, I was going to look up the history because I am not clear on all the details. There isn't much left to view at this site but there is a lot of history including a very old cemetery nearby.

Amazing how old these are if the date 1941 is correct. Is this across from Saybrook Point Inn?

Great close up. I like the graphic composition and the detail is superb.
