2012 2 Feb 26 - Raising the Pole

N 47° 37.244 W 122° 20.902
This totem pole was carved as a memorial for the carver John T Williams. His brother spoke about this as remembrance of his life not the way he died. It is also for all of the native peoples, not a single individual. There were representatives from tribes all around the NW present today.

I am glad you were able to get some shots of this event. I was not able to make it. Really nice capture of raising the pole.

@seattle My dad who is a professional photographer was in town for the day. I saw this on the news and realized it would be a unique event. More of my images from the day are here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3404473349668.2164839.1204897036&type=1&l=aface9dca8

If I had paid for more parking we might have stayed longer. There was quite a bit more after we left.
