Impecuniousness

The Mad Minute Word is impecuniousness -- meaning poverty, having little or no money. I decided to photograph the raggedy shoes I was wearing to mow the grass in the front yard.

I wish I still had a pair I had a year ago that wore almost completely through the soles; I wanted to portray the iconic "tramp" shoe. But I had enough sense to throw that pair away.

I do have better shoes, but by the time I'm completely through with them they'll probably be in a similar state.
well, mary, this comes out lookin like 'golden'. and if i am in a state of impecuousness impecuniousness, you can bet i'd be off to the jewellers or perhaps the pawnshop to cash this in. nice!

@summerfield HaHa! You're right. I hadn't thought of it -- but it does end up looking a little like the "bronzed shoe" type of thing. There is a definite golden tone there. If I'd noticed I could have tweaked it to get it more raggedy and less "precious metal-like" but it didn't occur to me.
All I did was crop (it was taken with that "toon camera" app on the iPod.) I tried against a light background and with the regular camera, but kind of liked the Modern Art painterly look of this one cropped. Kind of a giant Warhol-esque object.
@alicias Thanks. Wish I'd had more time to explore serious impecuniousness like Wendy did.

@mcsiegle Wendy and Kiran, I should say.

But you're not impecunious in your wealth of vision.

Love the creative thinking. I guess there is a thin line between green grass stain and bronzed shoes ;-)

@dragonwhistle @sbolden @eileenw @denidouble Thank you so much for the comments. I really enjoy the mad minute words. Deni, I know how you feel. I've been trying to figure out the best way to let all you wonderful 365 people know that I very much appreciate your looking, commenting, the critique & help -- and I love LOVE looking at your work, but my commenting and replies may be pretty spotty while our internet access is more limited -- at the library or little bits at work. Apologies. When the house is done, maybe I'll have a 365 marathon and do nothing else until I've caught up!
