Hysleria by mcsiegle

Hysleria

"Hysleria" is actually a common misspelling of "Hyslaria" which is a hysterical or obsessively panicked fear of getting malaria. Not common in the midwest, there have nonetheless been a few cases documented in the last 50 years -- primarily in Kansas, and to a lesser extent in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
I used to religiously take my quinine tablets when I worked in Papua New Guinea but I think it was the quinine in the gin and tonic which saved me!

@johnfalconer Veeerry interesting... I've never had a gin and tonic and never taken quinine tablets or quinine in any other form that I know of. Thanks for the comment.

ROFL! That's awesome! That's exactly how I felt after moving to NH this summer -- so many mosquitoes. My grandfather got malaria during WWII while serving in the Pacific. I remember as a kid, every time he got the flu or even the sniffles, he cursed that his malaria was back!
