For this week's theme of space. These are some of the pins I collected some years back -- not in an organized collector way, just what I like and appealed to me. For a time I got really interested in the US and Soviet space programs. One of these pins is from the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson, KS. If you are in that area and interested in space, it's worth stopping and seeing.
In upper left and lower right are American and Russian pins with the logo for the joint Apollo-Soyuz mission in 1975.
My favorite space pin is one that is not pictured here. I probably put it someplace "safe" before the renovation project. I looked today and couldn't find it. When I do locate it, I may take a picture and put it up here. It's an old, vintage, pin of Laika, the Russian dog who was the first animal to go into orbit on November 3, 1957. Her mission, sadly, was not designed to return her safely to earth. Two dogs Strelka and Belka came back alive from their later orbit.
