Sorry for a mass upload. True confession, I haven't taken many photos this week (Sept 1-7) and so am filling in blank days with shots I took over Labor Day in Minneapolis and other older photos, including this.
A while back I said I was going to post something of Dan's retelling of "Romeo and Juliet" using hand puppets. (This was in the mid eighties, when he was maybe about eight or nine years old.) I never got around to doing the collage I intended, that would have shown a portion of the story. But here is one of the climactic moments. Juliet kills herself when she discovers Romeo's lifeless body in the tomb where she has just awakened. He took poison because he thought SHE was dead...well, you all know the story -- very tragic. Really dramatic in sign language and puppet. Sorry I can't show you the old video this shot is taken from. The lurid green is the result of shooting at the TV screen and the age of the videotape being played. Applied some processing in PS Elements because of the poor video quality.
I love watch any child have great expression, sign language in plays. My son plays in MSAD last year as Robin Hood lead character. He grew up in many plays since pre school
@38dcmoder I wish I could have seen your son play Robin Hood. Sounds like he really enjoys acting in plays. Way back before my son was born even, I was helping volunteer with the classes for children at the Minnesota Theatre Institute of the Deaf (no longer in existence for a long long time). The kids did such a good job with the plays they put on. Do you know Paul Dymoke? For his job I think he still works as barber/hairdresser. But he's also a really good actor and, I think, also a clown. He was one of the kids/teens in those classes and plays. I wish I could see some of those kids again -- all adults now, of course.
@mcsiegle Yes I do know him. He is my classmate. He did for us when we have class reunion. When my kids were little and all the other group of kids sit by Paul give a show.
