urban/rural by mcsiegle

urban/rural

For the current one night stand this week. The last day (today) is urban and/or rural. This was done in great haste about a 1/2 hour ago when I realized I hadn't done anything for today's theme. Two different house plans laid out under my little rural (stones) urban (brick) construction. The plans on the left are for the house that didn't get built out on a piece of the farm land Frank inherited. That was actually our plan B. When we couldn't get the county to let us build out there (zoning issues) we went back to plan A -- addition and renovation of our house in town. Working with the same architect on both, so he just pulled out the old drawings and the contractor re-figured the cost, which had gone up, of course, while we had pursued Plan B out on the land. It would have been a really nice house; we put a lot of effort into designing it. But I love what we ended up with (newly renovated and enlarged house) right here where we are, a block and 1/12 from the city park, not far from the library and downtown, or the campus.
Very creative answer to the challenge.

very inventive and creative shot! I'm sorry your house in the country plans did not work out.

You saved the day with this idea! We, too, have a house designed but never built. We built our cottage on the lake property but intended to build the "Real house" and live in the cottage as we built the real house. My husband at the time was a builder/contractor. Then the economy went bust, especially building. It took him a while to find another job..... and now we still have our other house because the economy has not been good to sell and our house needs some work. So we visit the little lake house....I look at the lot down below it and wonder what that house would have looked like.
