When the dinosaurs saw the picture of Piggy from the Toys on 365 group making and eating strawberry shortcake, they wanted to do the same (well, at least the herbivores. The others weren't interested at all.)
They were so hungry for strawberry shortcake that they didn't wait for me, but forged ahead on their own. They found a recipe and were starting to assemble and measure out the ingredients, when I found them. I really hated to have to tell them we didn't have any strawberries, and that Sunday I had decided to try to not spend any money whatsoever until Saturday grocery shopping (which I blew when I decided it would be prudent to gas up the car, but I'm still not spending on things I don't have to.) So there would be no running out for strawberries, despite the fact that they had found the newspaper supplement for Hy Vee and showed me that strawberries were on sale. (Still not as cheap as at Dillons last Saturday, I must add.)
I tried to cheer them up by offering to help them make pineapple upside down cake, but they were sulky so I dropped it. I'll get some strawberries on Saturday. Shortcake sounded pretty good to me too, and it's a favorite of Frank's.
When I took this shot, Trachodon was still looking at Piggy's photo from the other day. Stegosaurus and one of the Apatosaurus youngsters were reading over the recipe. The other young Apatosaurus had begun unwrapping the butter, and the adult Apatosaurus was unsuccessfully trying to convince me to go to Hy Vee.
