My get pushed challenge from @dawnee was moon or stars. Frank, Dan, andI went up to Meadowlark Hills where my Mom lives to see the fireworks. My sister Barb, visiting from OH joined us, but Mom decided to just get ready for bed and not go outside. I half wish I would have prepared my camera to try to take pictures of some of the fireworks. But the other half of me liked just focusing on enjoying them and not on trying to capture through a camera. As we walked back to our house, I aimed the camera at the moon. Frank pointed out that it would be better in the country without the light pollution. There was less light in our back alley at home (still in the middle of town) than the well lit street and parking at Meadowlark. This is the best example I got. I might (or might not) head to the country later this week for a more artistic shot and a crack at clear starlit sky.
@dawnee Here you have the moon. It's pretty straightforward and mundane, but so much better than my old camera could do with only 4x optical zoom that I'm pleased with the results. I may try for something with more graphic interest later in the week.
Well done! It will be hard to get a lot of stars with the full moon. I haven't tried doing that because most of the sky is blocked out by trees here anyway. You may also capture a little more detail if you set your camera to 200 ISO on daylight. It does require a tripod with the lower ISO, but I've gotten some great shots at that setting.
This is a great shot of the moon - so clear and well focused with lots of great details.
Mary - I noticed the conversation you were having with Taffy about the links.
I discovered, quite by accident from doing the Thursday SH*T list, that you have to give the copied link a whole line to itself, and then hit enter, before it becomes blue with the underline under it.
Once that happens, you can then hit backspace to bring it into a paragraph with other links or behind one of your comments.
Give that a try - (you can always delete your comment once you see if that works)
Hi Mary, I'm your get-pushed partner for this week. My step-daughter used to be in charge of one of the residence halls at KSU, and I have actually been to Manhattan, KS! I'll give you a couple options from other challenges...skyline photo or something showing or expressing "fast'
