Taken on my 50 paces photo walk on Friday evening for the get pushed challenge from Kali @kali66 " how about letting the camera do the work this week, apparently your coolpix has 7 special effects such as Cross Screen effect , you could try the 50 steps walk too, stop and take a photo each 50 steps of something you see from wherever you end up."
I did explore the camera a bit. Finally found the cross screen effect among the effects you can apply to a shot already taken. Didn't find the right picture to use it on and decided to save experimenting with that and other effects for another day.
It was a gorgeous spring-like day on Friday. Was starting to get a bit chilly by the time I walked down to the library after dinner, so I put on a jacket, but still very nice out. Here are a few of the photos I took. I cheated the 50 steps just a bit a few times. For instance, when 50 steps lands me in the middle of the street... and to take the photo of the setting sun, I moved over toward the street off the sidewalk. The sky at that point (the beginning of my walk) was not that dark, but the sun itself was orange. I wish I knew how to get a photo that duplicates what my eye saw, but the sun is going to register bright against the rest of the sky and my camera reads it as bright white. Lowering the exposure darkens the sky, making the orange/pink around the sun more vivid but still doesn't change the white of the sun.
perhaps that is when hdr comes in, to get the full range from sun exposure to the shadows . glad you had a nice walk and found some interesting things, when i did this with my son when he was younger it was so interesting to see what attracted him to photograph them that i wouldnt have noticed otherwise.
