Ashley @liveincolor challenged me to do something with negative space. Here’s one of two I’ve done for her. This was taken at the Linger Longer (see my post on yesterday’s date).
I've been thinking a lot about negative space this week haha. I almost thought about giving you such a challenge until I read that you just got that one. Instead I think I'll challenge you to pick an object in your yard, or outside of where you live, and to take a "portrait" of it. The tricky part is that I want you to try and focus on it manually instead of using your automatic focus. You can do this challenge with our without the tricky part depending on if you want to try the manual focus thing.
@stephomy I wish I was able to focus manually, but my camera seems not to have that capability. So I will reluctantly have to do the challenge without that element. Sigh. If you'd like to impose some other kind of specifics, please feel free.
@mcsiegle Ooohh! I misunderstood that. Your camera wont let you, okay. In that case, how about if you make it a proper portrait and use a narrow DOF a.k.a. low aperture number so that the background is out of focus.
