Spanakopita—yum! by mcsiegle

Spanakopita—yum!

So...Frank had bought some dolmas, because they were one of the things I had included on a list of Christmas present suggestions he asked me to give him. We both like dolmas so they wern’t a strictly “from Frank to Mary” item, and were still in the fridge Tuesday, so I told him I’d make Spanakopita on Wednesday, and he decided to make Kofta sandwiches for Thursday (to eat with leftover Spanikopita). I cheated and used puff pastry dough instead of putting phylo dough layer by layer. So not absolutely authentic. But still tastes delicious. Well, after Thursday dinner, there was still some of that yummy spinach pie left, and my get pushed challenge from Kathy @randystreat was food photography. So here is a generous piece, the one dolma saved for Friday lunch, and a piece of Turkish Delight (rose flavor) to add to the photo. I’m making that last—do you temember the 5 Spare Wise Men and Jimmy having a piece at the beginning of the month? We still have 1/2 of the box left.
@randystreat I have another thing I made that I want to photograph, but didn’t do it last night. Gotta head to the store for the right thing to garnish the top with. Better get off my butt and do that now!

I like this lovely food photo. The food itself is quite exotic to me. No Greek restaurants around here.
