The dinosaurs and Neanderthals found out there were some Welsh cakes left over from the Celtic Spirituality Service at the Unitarian Universalist Church. Frank spent weeks writing and making arrangements for the service. Our friends Danny Proud and his son Martin came from Minnesota to participate with the service and concert they gave while people ate the various dishes that Frank had gotten members of the fellowship involved in preparing. My contribution was Welsh cakes. I made about 75 or so and came home with a bunch. Frank and I have eaten several, and I hadn't thought of how much the dinosaurs love Welsh cakes.
When I came across them this afternoon, they were standing around looking into the tub of Welsh cakes (and one of the two pieces of shortbread I had traded a few for.)
They were on the outside looking in. "Aha!" I thought. "Get the camera!" The OWO prompt for the day is OUTSIDE. At the point I took this picture Neanderthal Woman and Lady Neanderthal were consulting with New Neanderthal Man about something. I think it was the recipe. They all have helped me make Welsh cakes in the past close to St. David's Day. Perhaps they were considering making their own if I didn't share these.
No worries, I shared. (Confidentially, though some of them had been a tremendous help that first time, the year after that when the pigs joined in, the kitchen got to be such a mess, I had to chase the whole lot out and clean up before I could even think about making anything.
Luckily I had enough to go around and still a few for Frank and me. There are 15 dinosaurs and Neanderthals, if I'm counting correctly from this photo. If I hadn't come along when I did they might have eaten them all. Once the Rhanphorhynchus and the Plesiosaurus came down from the top of the bin, the Allosaurus would have had the lid off in a jiffy. Tomorrow, I'll give a couple to the pigs. They did have one Welsh cake a couple of weeks ago, shortly after I'd made them, but I know they'll want some after hearing that the dinos had eaten almost all the leftovers. Sigh...what's the prompt for tomorrow?
you are my favourite nutter of all nutters you know. i didn't see this until now and it gave me a chuckle reading the story. i hope they left something for the piggy meeting today. aces!
not sure how i missed this one but it is a perfect depiction of outside and how great to have the whole crew there! Good to know there were a few left to bribe the pigs with!
