Long Exposure on a Pedestrian Subject by mcsiegle

Long Exposure on a Pedestrian Subject

April challenged me to try the long exposure feature on my iPhone 12, using the “Live Photo” setting. She provided a couple of links to give me an idea how to use it. To be honest, I have never before figured out why anyone would want to use the stupid Live Photo thing, and had been relieved to find that I could turn it off retroactively on the pictures I’d accidentally taken with that as default. (I also figured out how to stop it from defaulting to that.) I had a cold the first part of this week and then Frank got it, despite all my efforts to prevent that. And I still have been rather low energy. So I haven’t taken the time to go out and find the best subject to try this out on. As time was running out, I found myself sitting around, randomly producing motion with my hand and then the silver water bottle I had with me. This is not your typical long exposure shot. But is’s the most interesting of the results I got. Actually uploaded Sunday night, but restricted so I could write this, but fell asleep before doing so. So it’s now Monday a.m. and here’s my get pushed response.
@aecasey Sometime I’ll go out and try this in a more appropriate setting. In the meantime, thanks for introducing me to the availability of that feature.

Cool! I actually wanted to ask for an icm with your phone but I could not get my phone to do it even with live so I gave up. Glad you gave it a go and found something new.

I puts me in mind of a pot of soup that is steaming hot.

@aecasey Hmmm…it seems to me I’ve been able to force my phone into rudimentary ICM, but maybe I am thinking of stuff done with the point and shoot or bridge cameras. At any rate I was happy to find that Live Photo was good for something. In general, I still think it’s dumb, but not useless. Hooray! I shall have to try the long exposure sometime with more serious intent.
