I was very excited when I saw this bird in my yard yesterday. Due to the similarities in size and wing markings I thought this was a jay of some sort, perhaps a gray jay. I have since discovered that this is in fact a Northern Mockingbird with leucistic feathers. Leucistic feathers is a genetic mutation in which pigment does not reach the feathers.
Cool shot! I especially like that big eye... feather textures are showing nicely too! The overall coloring of the bird is quite b/w, how about making the image all b/w, and maybe just a bit of selective color on the eye ? Tint effect in Picnik can do that...

You have suggestions about everything, don't you? Maybe if I kept the eye and the feeder block in color it might look okay, otherwise I think it would be too drab. I am familiar with how to do selective color in both picnik as well as GIMP.
