When will I learn not to attempt nighttime photography? I tried taking a picture of the moon last night, but it turned out looking really grainy and and an odd halo effect to it. I then attempted to shoot a lightning bug, which you can sort of see is the bright green blur in the leaves. I shot this at about 9 p.m. when it was fairly dark, and yet the photo looks as if it was taken at about six o' clock at night. I was told that perhaps my shutter was open for too long? Who knows......
I like that little radioactive bug. Can you control shutter time manually in your camera? Anyway, you could get this darker with the gamma trick if you want...
@janmaki
Yes, I just figured out tonight how to control the shutter speed. I would try the gamma trick except my gimp program hardly ever works for me.
@mej2011 that program has some issues .... :-P Maybe Picnik Exposure tweaking could do similar stuff, haven't really played with that. There's also a highlight/shadow tweak in Advanced section, could be worth a try too.
@janmaki
Perhaps, although when a photo turns out this bad, I am more likely to just say screw it. lol. I"ll keep the exposure and highlight shadow thingy in mind though. thanks! @pwallis
Don't have a clue why your comment went poof again..... :(

Nope, just this one. It was there and then I hit reply and it kept coming with with Jani's info, so I refreshed my page and you were gone.
