Haha, I've never tried to photograph both of my hands. Have to try that :-) Your hands look great, and I like how you interpreted the song as a picture.
@janmaki
Try it, it's hard. Every time I would look in my viewfinder, I would always get a portion of the legs of my tripod or part of my wheelchair in the shot as well, so it look about 45 minutes and lots of shots to get just my hands (and part of my floor obviously.)Thanks for the encouragement. I'm not fond of this. In my mind I pictured something similar to what @marinda did in her photo today, but I have no idea how to get that depth with the camera I have. Oh well, onto a song I hate!
@mej2011 The depth can be achieved, I think... you just need to have the focused part (e.g. your hand) very close to the camera. The closer to camera the focal point is, the more there will be that blurry background creating the feeling of depth.
@robinwarner
Thanks so much Robin! Basically you set your camera's timer, put your hands where you think the camera will photograph them, and pray for the best. ha ha! Note, this may have to be done repeatedly.
@mej2011
I'm not familiar with it... but technically what you need is a wide open aperture (a small *number* such as f2.8 which is what I had my settings on) and as Jani said, as close as your cam can focus properly and still get the comp you want. I took about 150 pics that day because not having my tripod made it a lot more difficult. so don't feel bad if you have to keep at it. that's when you learn stuff. even the top pro's out there! :) If u have any more Q's Id be happy to help - if I can.
@marinda
Thanks so much for your help Marinda! I took about 20 shots of this, with a tripod, so I can't even imagine doing 150 without a tripod. Thanks again!

Thank You Graham!
Marinda, I am using a Nikon Coolpix P100, basically a step up from a point and shoot.
Thank you Kimberly!
