Editing for this shot consisted of picnik's auto fix, a slight crop, and cross process effect at 25%. After that, I went to Photoscape and used film effect-afga-high. Then I decided I didn't like any of that and added sepia on top of it all.
I liked the background in color, but the bird was very dull and looked sort of grainy in color. Now if I only knew how to blend the two.
@pwallis
Eh, the top left corner is just a cluster of leaves..Nothing special. lol. Thanks so much for the fav! I really wasn't sure if I should upload this version or the colored one. I tried doing a reverse sepia thing on the background and it didn't work for some reason.
The composition according to rules state, that the bird should be in bottom left corner (negative space for the bird to fly into blah blah). But, I like how you broke the rule in this one, I have a feeling that the hummingbird wants to break free but there's a huge wall blocking the way. So the bird just stares at it, hoping....
@janmaki
And if I had followed composition rules, I would have hated this photo. lol. I like your interpretation, so we will pretend that is indeed what the photo is supposed to be showing.
