My hawk friend decided to make his/her return to my backyard yesterday after being gone all summer. Editing consisted only of Picnik's clarify. I shot this on close up mode. I don't know if being on manual would have gotten better emphasis on the hawk instead of the branches in front of him. Hopefully next time I see him, he'll be in a better (less leaves) location.
Love that one piercing eye staring out at you! Manual mode probably would have allowed you to choose as to what you wanted the primary focus on, but still, the branches in front are blurred and the hawk's in sharp focus - which is what you want right? Great shot of this guy, I like his little talons wrapped around the branch too. Can't believe how close he is!
@pwallis
Thanks! Yes, I obviously want him in focus, I just thought manual might have made him look more crisp. Made him look more crisp? What am I talking about, it's not like he's bacon. lol. I hope you get what I mean. He was pretty close, but hopefully he'll come even closer one day.
@mej2011 yeah I get what you mean. But I think as far as wildlife captures go - he is pretty crispy (mmmm bacon) - birds are hard to photograph! And this one's a good shot.

Perfect focus??!!! WOO HOOO! Thanks!
Birds are extremely hard to photograph. You would think I would have given up on them by now.
He is,isn't he? Thanks Beth!
