Anybody know which state gets the least amount of rain? Because that is clearly where I need to move to. Either that, or I need to find more interesting things in my house to photograph.
This was originally taken on November 11th. Editing consisted of Picnik's auto fix and a slight crop. I did not use clarify on this shot because it made Mr. Squirrel's face really dark, and I don't know how to counter that.
@janmaki
I know. It's crazy, I used to live in more of a city location, so it's kind of odd still having all of these animals in my backyard all of the time. Critique please?
@janmaki
There is a glass window/door and then a screen door between. I noticed the blur too, I think the clarify would have fixed it, but again, the clarify made the squirrels face too dark.
@mej2011 yeah I think your shots would benefit a lot if you could open the doors, even one.
OK here's a trick for Picnik :
- Use TINT tool
- Select SCREEN mode instead of Normal
- Select white color
- Paint over the area you want to brighten (ie. the face)
- Use fade slider if the area is too bright
- Apply
- TA-DAH!
@janmaki
And how long have you been hiding that trick? lol. Thanks! I just tried, but somehow made the face even darker. I'll keep playing around until i get it right.
Ahhh the things Jani knows.....you're right, he should write a book! Love your little backyard zoo, but i think the squirrels going to kick that bunny's ASS. Nice light dappling through the shot too:)
@pwallis
Of course I'm right. ha ha. You could be right, apparently squirrels chased off a hawk yesterday in my yard, unfortunately, I missed that one. @janmaki See Paula agrees with me to, get to writing.
@mej2011 yeah maybe a bit warmer tone, light orange or something like that. Anyway, Tint tool is one of the most powerful tools in Picnik and I think most people are not using it at all :) For example, my lamp shot yesterday was TINTed : I just painted over the area I wanted to recolor, then selected the color tone and proper fade%. Screen mode makes everything brighter, overlay makes the colors deeper and more contrast-y, multiply = darker etc. etc.
@pwallis not writing a book, but maybe this gives you ideas :)
Thanks Mary! I've thought about Arizona, but I think Texas is too dry and hot.

No. Doing that would have made sense. lol. It's a little bit better. Maybe I just need the right shade of white.

Thanks Holly!
