Today was a good bird day, but a bad camera day. I saw my first hummingbird for the season, identified a white throated sparrow, and a white capped sparrow. Unfortunately, pictures of all of these birds turned out way hazy, and I have no idea why.
Editing of this Carolina Wren photo, consisted of a crop in Picmonkey.
@mej2011 - Hey I'm a proud Birdnerd myself! There's a group of young birders here in Australia who don't believe we're as obsessed as say a "twitcher" but we know the difference between a "Lewin's Honeyeater" and a "Blue Footed Booby"... and we know their names. So we have adopted the name Birdnerd.
@mej2011 - a "twitcher" is a birdwatcher who keeps a list of the birds that they have seen and then (this is the important part) will go bird watching specifically to see a specific specie to add to their list. So a birdnerd will just go out and appreciate all the birds, but a twitcher will be disappointed if a "so and so" is not spotted on that particular day out.
Thanks! They are one of my favorite kind of bird.
Thanks Maggie! I agree, even the tail has an interesting pattern.
It's a shame I couldn't post the picture of the White Throated Sparrow. You would like him, he's got yellow eyebrows.
Nerd?! How rude! lol. I do love my birds, yes.
And I have no idea what a "twicher", "Lewin's Honeyeater", or "Blue Footed Booby" are, so I guess I still have lots to learn.
Ah, I'm just a nerd then. Have you seen the movie The Big Year? I may have mentioned it before.
Thank You!
Silly both of you.
That is exactly what he/she was doing. Thank you Mama!
