Get Pushed 34

What a week this has been as far as challenges. My partner this week is @westcoastwallis . At the beginning of the week she challenged me to "Go to your fave restaurant/cafe/diner/whatever - but the more American style diner the better. You know, like the ones with bar seats along the counter and pie under the dome on the counter? If you've got one of those around, cool. If not, just your fave restaurant will do. Then set your camera on the table and take a sneaky candid of some fellow patrons or patron. Here's an example of one I shot in a bar:

Luckily, Paula was kind enough to give me a second challenge. The second challenge was " your challenge is to do one of those cheesy inspirational quotes shots (like, add the text to your actual shot) and try and match a shot to the quote - your quote is: Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree ~ Martin Luther"
My original thought was to do something relating to being disabled, but that's as far as that idea went. I'm not sure if I just had a psychological block because I don't want to be known here as "the girl in the wheelchair" or what. So I decided to take things literal and this is the end result. I chopped open a globe, taped a piece of the globe to a vine and placed the vine inside. Then I went a bit crazy with editing. I used Ipiccy to HDR the photo, then I used Photoscape to create the yellow lens flare, then I went to http://bighugelabs.com/motivator.php and created the template for the poster, which I almost forgot to do. lol.
Thanks for the challenge Paula!
@westcoastwallis
Apparently I needed lack of communication from you in order to get this done. lol.

My challenge to you is to take a portrait of a person. I love all your bird and animal photos, but I've been back a month or so, and no human faces!! So I want you to concentrate on a face, not a selfie, of someone else. Maybe in black and white. Courage!

@joannapayne
Great! I love black and white portraits, but they're definitely a weak point for me. Thanks!

@janim
Why haven't you told me how awful this one is yet? lol

This is an interesting direction that I never thought you would take this challenge in! I probably would have shot something far more literal myself (like an apple tree), so I love how creative you got with this. And I think the edit looks great too, maybe minus the little flarey thing - I don't know. But great response to the challenge!!

WOOT! I'm so glad you like it. I wish I would have been able to come up with some way to work the disability aspect, as was my original thought process, because I think that would "say" more. Does that make sense?
Yeah---the little flare thingy. The point was supposed to showing "hope" but then since I forgot that the actual whole point of the challenge was the poster idea, everything kind of got squashed in order to fit the border.
