It's @janim 's birthday today, and a few of us decided to do photographs in honor of our favorite Finn!
Anyone remember Jani's self portrait with the KISS make up (which I sadly can't link because he deleted his old account)? Re-creating that was my plan, until I realized that I can't get decent d.o.f. except on accident. And I can't figure out for the life of me how to work the path tool in GIMP. And I mighta broke my tripod.
So forks it is! This idea started out as multiple forks all in different sizes, indicating Jani's fork obsession throughout the years, but I couldn't get them all in one picture. Then I tried making a tower out of three forks, but the littlest one wouldn't stand straight and we all know how Jani hates things when they're not straight, so that was out. Finally, I realized that Jani is at his best when he's simplistic, so that's what I tried to go for here.
Editing consisted of cropping, and silver screen effect in Ribbet.
Happy Birthday Jani!
@janim
I have no idea why I didn't get notification for this. I don't know, I'm not savvy on fork genders. I think that's your area of expertise. ;)
So one day you'll have to FB me and explain how to do the path tool because I don't get it.
I'm so glad to see one of us did the fork thing, too. I had an idea in my mind, tried it and trashed it right away. :D Three different styles of Jani were channeled and yours works like a charm. The focus on this is great - and I do think he's right about the genders of the forks. :D But hey, get a wireless remote - it's the best idea ever for anyone wanting to ever do any selfies! :)
@joa
I have not yet been able to find a wireless remote that is compatible with my camera.I think this is somebody's way of telling me that I just shouldn't do selfies. :)
@mej2011 Oh, but you DO! You may not know it yet, but you DO! :D I thought I didn't need them - that was about 1,5 years ago. Then, wham, it hit me. I WANT those bells and whistles. :D Go, go, go for it! :P
@mej2011 LOL! "Fun(ny), that." doesn't really translate well. :D It's a literal translation, sure, but... :D Since I am able to figure out the original, it makes sense. :D
@mej2011 LOL! Epic fail. :D It doesn't have a verb in it! "Että" is that, and strictly used as a particle (you couldn't use that word in this sentence, for example) and "hauskaa" is fun, a partitive form of it.
Yes, sorry, I've also done a few years of Finnish teaching... :D

Thanks! I'll check it out!
Why am I not aware of forks having genders?
I have not yet been able to find a wireless remote that is compatible with my camera.I think this is somebody's way of telling me that I just shouldn't do selfies. :)
lol. I'm mostly still stuck on program modes with this camera. I DO NOT need more bells and whistles. lol
That is NOT a very convincing argument. :)
I'm sticking with my theory that I'm just not meant to do selfies. :O
Pishposh? that sounds like something my grandma would say.
Yes, but I can google translate that.
Or maybe not. According to Google Translate, that is German and has no American translation.
Well then why didn't you tell me? lol. It usually works well for when I randomly try and talk Finnish with Jani on facebook.
Eh, I honestly just forget that some people here speak other languages. lol
Great, now I'm going to get random comments from him that are going to make zero sense. lol
Hauskaa, että. (again Google translate so you can't blame me if that is totally off. )
That says funny that? It was supposed to say "have fun with that"....fail.
Yes, sorry, I've also done a few years of Finnish teaching... :D
Then I guess you will just have to find me a correct translator. :)
That's so funny, Jani has so many different elements to his style and yet a lot of us seem to gravitate towards the forks.
