Editing consisted of upping the contrast a bit. Will I ever learn how to get good shots without having to mess with the contrast?
Nice shot, Yes you will learn how to get good shots, have you got spot metering on your camera? If so try that and try to focus on the eye or as close not easy I know because I try . This is a nice shot of a Cardinal

I've had this camera for about 3 years, and it's really tricky on when it wants to focus etc. I've tried spot metering and I just can't get a bird to sit still long enough to focus. I'll keep trying. Thanks for the suggestion.
