Male Pileated Woodpecker

Between seeing this guy and the owl from yesterday's shot, I think my birding bucket list is complete.

I do have shots that are closer in focus to this guy, I just have to figure out how to get rid of the dirty window smudges using Photoshop. Stay tuned!

Editing consisted of upping the brightness a bit.

I just saw one of these inn my yard yesterday...they are not that common. Unfortunately I didn't have my zoom lens! Great capture! Beautiful bird!

This guy is AWESOME! I don't think that I have seen this bird before. . . where do you find them? I just started getting interested in birds and taking their pictures so this bird could live by me and I just don't know it yet.

They are in Illinois as well, they live in heavily wooded areas. This was taken at a local nature preserve.
