@narayani Yes, the eastern skunk cabbage does have a strong smell. There's truth in the description of skunky beer and skunky coffee. Skunk cabbage is a fascinating plant though. It's thermogenic and melts its way up through the frozen ground and snow in early January. Inside the hood of the flower the temperature can be 35C even in sub-freezing weather.
@anniesue Your Lords and Ladies look like our Jacks in the Pulpit. Different genus though. I think Lords and Ladies are thermogenic like the easter skunk cabbage and the corpse flower. Got to attract those flies, I guess.
