Are they really called Bittersweet Vines? Or is that an appropriate name you've thought up because it really is cool how they make those corkscrews ...
@seacreature Yes, it's called bittersweet vine. There are two varieties. The native American bittersweet vine is relatively innocuous while the invasive Chinese bittersweet vine is horrible. It grows up trees quickly, strangles them or robs them of sunlight and kills them. My yard is full of this thing and I hate it.
To further confuse the issue, there is also bittersweet nightshade which is a completely different plant all together. I have that one, too, but it's okay.
