Stink Bug_DSC4806

I'm not really excited about this one, but it was the best of today's shots. The seed pod is a bit distracting, but I'm not good enough at editing to get rid of it. Looks better on black.
Hope you didn't get too close to this stinker!

Oo-er...that chap looks enormous! Brilliantly captured and a great shot, but I have to admit, I'm not enamoured of him. Think I'd give him a wide berth!

@chrysanthemum They are not my favourite bugs either. This one is only about 1 1/2 cm in length,so not that big at all Christina.

Like his markings, do they stink?

Great capture, would you believe I threw a stink bug back into the garden yesterday not even thinking to photograph him!! Like your shot...

@hop2it They produce an unpleasant odour when they feel threatened. Apparently they can spray it over a short distance. I have read that their spray is also quite corrosive, it can cause sight problems if it gets in your eyes and it can sting your skin.

@merrelyn But big enough to look frightening! To me, anyway. :))
