This morning we wandered along Rockingham beach to check out the sculptures. I'm so glad that we got home in time to see them, because the exhibition closed today. Castaways combines the theme of recycling and environmental awareness with the creative re-use of materials and innovative sculpture. There were some amazing pieces on display. It was too difficult to chose my favourite.
@jodies Thanks Jodie, the council has been running this for about 9 years. Many of the sculptures had components made from plastic bottle tops. It was quite horrific to see how many had been used and the knowledge that it was a tiny fraction of what goes into landfill every day :(
They look fascinating and remind me of Anthony Gormley's sculptures 'Another Place', on Crosby Beach, near Liverpool. Nicely put together in this collage!
