Going Up _DSC9686

These steps lead up to The Roundhouse, which was built as a gaol, in 1831. It was used as a lock up from 1857 to 1900. In 1982 it was vested in the City of Fremantle for use as a monument.

Lovely sense of history in your shot.

I think I have alms exactly the same shot, but was never very happy with it. It has such history and the stonework is lovely …. but it is so difficult to photograph. The last time I was there, my thoughts were that to get the most of this spot, it would probably be best o photograph in the golden hour, or to do a HDR shot.

@deborah63 I did thanks Debbie. I know what you mean about the light. We were there at about 11.30. It wasn't too bad at the steps, but the light on the Roundhouse was just to harsh.

@hermann @happysnaps @gilbertwood @yeshanghai Thank you, the detail and textures on the wall is what first caught my eye.

@chrysanthemum Thanks Christina, I've been up these steps before but have not paid much attention to them. (What a difference 365 has made to the way I look at things.)

Yes you can Peter, "The Guide and the Visitor _DSC9700" was taken inside the Roundhouse. The cells were built into the walls and centre is an open area, where I guess punishment was carried out.

@onewing Thanks Babs, the actual building is lovely too, but the light was too harsh for a good shot.
