My new Stokes Field Guide to Birds of North America paid off quickly - this one had me fooled. I believe he's a juvenile meadowlark (whether Eastern or Western I can't tell- didn't hear - or remember - enough of his call). Thought all meadowlarks had the black V, but not in the juvenile stage.
What a beautiful capture. I love the color combination of the yellows against the black, and the detail is excellent. You really do need to become a naturalist if you take nature photos!
