Played with my mini roses with my nifty fifty - Like the focus but not real excited about the background. Guess just sticking it on the bench outside against the blue sky was kind of blah. Shot at f1.8 at 1/200.
This is lovely. If you want less DOF and therefore more of your shot in focus - use a smaller aperture - i.e. a higher F number. However, I like this as it really makes the rose stand out and it's a Fav for me
This demonstrates more clearly the relationship between aperture and DoF -- the wide aperture here bounds the area of the flower that's in sharp focus and makes for such a lovely soft background.
