This rose-breasted grosbeak showed up this morning - but took off immediately. Was so happy when he reappeared this afternoon and stayed for some time - even went down to the feeder with the other birds. I had never spotted one before and my husband said it had been 15 years or more since he'd seen one.
Congratulations on your life bird! They are so pretty. They seem to stop by my feeders when they first arrive in spring and before they leave in fall, but the rest of the breeding season they are in the woods. I just checked the range map and see they don't breed in your area, so your only chance to see them will be during migration.
