Think he was the biggest orb weaver spider I've spotted. Was a little nervous about getting this close. Still not able to get away with my camera so using a saved shot from earlier this month.
It reminded me of a story. ;) Once, I was picking bluberries, and I saw one fat arachnid near me, but I judged it was in a safe distance, so I carefully went for the fruit, while keeping my eyes on the bug. Then, my cousin shouted: "Watch out for the spider!" and I shouted back: "Yeah I can see it, don't worry!" Her answer was: "Not that one, this one!" You can imagine my panick I run away pretty quickly :D So I admire your courage! Great shot!
@enlisa I was lying across a revetment wall, reaching down trying to get close - imagine I was about 12" from him with the lens - my arms totally stretched!
