How can a day that starts off with frost hit 74 in the afternoon - and 20 expected by Saturday. This is driving me nutty!

Beautiful frost! Yes, we too have been down in the frost zone at night and then getting up to the mid-70s. It's expected to be 80 on Christmas day (we're Fahrenheit). Ours is paradise but it does get monotonous.
