Think I'm going for strange shot of the month! Not sure what these things are called, but on cold damp mornings you can find them scattered all over the fields. Kind of like a frost web.

Yes, frost web for sure. Some spiders build webs that look like freeform string art rather than the usual, spiral sort. They build them in all sorts of places and at different angles, including flat in the grass. They aren't normally visible unless they've got dew on them - or the dew's turned to ice.
