I don't mention it like I should, but I really do appreciate your kind comments about my photos. This is one strange insect - a flower beetle he's called. Reminds me of a superman cape he's wearing.
@dulciknit from what I've read in my new insect book (I never thought I'd have one of them!) it doesn't seem to be much of a pest - said it was quite flighty so I guess I was lucky to catch this shot. Loves Queen Anne's Lace and other pollen sources. Not sure why he was here!

I think the publishers of wildlife identifiaction books have a lot to thank 365 for. Every so often someone mentions that they've gone out and bought one as a result of taking photos to post!
Maybe he was trying out a new restaurant? ;-)
