SOOC. This was one stunned little female downy woodpecker. I heard this thud in the kitchen and thought for sure I'd find a dead bird after hitting the window. But she had bounced off the window and rebounded against the covered rocker pulled up close to the window - holding on for dear life! Stayed that way for about 15 minutes - only movement was the eyes. She finally recovered and flew off. She's cut off because I couldn't get below the window ledge without a chance of frightening her and didn't want to upset her even more.
Poor thing! We get birds flying into our windows from time to time and they seem to recover. Good that you left her - the stress of handling them doesn't do them any good, does it?
Nicely captured.
