Or at least I think he is. This was shot using the new camera I just got - one of the bridge cameras - a Canon SX50 - with the 28-600 zoom. I shot a picture from the south side of the Arkansas River across to the county courthouse clock tower and you could almost see the screws in the clock. Unreal. And about 1/3 the weight for walking with. Will be giving it a try for the next few weeks I imagine. Liked the detail it took here.
Great photo. I have the sx40 and love it. No doubt a DSLR with all the features are fantastic cameras, but the Canon sx50 and sx40 pakc a lot of punch for the dollar. Google CHDK if you are interested in expanding your sx50's low light and night time photography capabilities ... or just send me a note. Easy add to a simm card. I use my sx40 for northern lights photography. Canon put some software limitations which are easily surmountable ... such as forcing the ISO to not exceed 100 in low light.
Lovely detail Milanie and great capture! Fav
I have a canon SX40 HS with 24 to 840 zoom and I LOVE IT...............it's light and takes awesome photos.
i'm sure you will enjoy this camera.
Great capture of this pelican (I presume). The sharpness and detail are amazing. You have beautiful detail in the whites. Let me know how you like the new camera. I am due for a new one. I am using my original Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT from 2006.
Wow! Impressive camera and zoom lens you've now got. This is an amazing picture, and I bet you were no where near this big bird. You're going to be bringing all kinds of wild life up close now! Have fun! Lucky us, getting to see the outcome.
@dulciknit That's why I didn't hesitate on it since it was a Canon - they set up about the same - not much learning curve for this old brain . Whereas my Nikon - that is totally reversed. What's right is left, etc. Drives me nutty.
@falcon11 www.laniesviewsofherworld2014.shutterfly.com in the March section has a series of the shots from the new camera today. You might get a little better idea of what it can do. You can go from the tiniest wildweed (not too many wildflowers at the moment) to a bird in the top of the tallest tree. I'll be posting with it for several weeks to get the hang of it, but so far I'm loving it. Walked 5 miles with it today and didn't even know I had it - and it was only $336. I love Canon.
