Have the Flowers - Just Very Few Butterflies

Found my first Great Spangled Fritillary for the summer - a few cone flowers that haven't entirely died from these hot temperatures. The few butterflies that I have spotted have not been in "mint condition" - so many with parts missing.

I'm having a difficult time with butterflies this year, too. I see them, but never when I have my camera with me. Then when I DO have it, I don't see butterflies. Sigh.

Have you tried putting out banana peel to attract butterflies. They do that at the butterfly places in Florida.

He blends in nicely with the cones. I can imagine how hot it was at noon when you took this image. I've noticed many tattered bflies too.
