This was close - by an hour later, all the pretty yellow coreopsis were gone - the brush hog got them all. Fortunately, he'd started at the other end of the field and I was able to catch this variegated fritillary before he got there. Disappointed to see all the flowers gone for no real reason. That field isn't used for anything.
Glad you got this shot before the mower. That is too bad, we really need those meadowlands for the critters
It's a beautiful image of a beautiful insect. Dreadful shame about the mowerman.
