Standing Where My Mom Once Stood

Have 2 last Yellowstone/Tetons pictures I want to post - which is a good thing since all that's happening around here right now is watching the river rise and highways close. They closed down the Corps park today (to some unhappy Memorial Day campers) in anticipation of higher water tomorrow. Quite a few homes in neighboring towns are being flooded.

But I digress - this is a picture somewhat similar to one I remember my mom talking about when she made a trip to Jenny Lake back in the early 80's. She never learned to drive so she had taken a bus tour and fell in love with this area.
Beautiful. A lot of the areas around our lakes are closed as well. We usually have fireworks starting up on Memorial Day but that has already been postponed til sometime in July.

This is a gorgeous shot and I just love the fact that your mom was there as well!

This is lovely. We only have one lake closure but all our lakes are high. Stay safe!

Awesome shot in b&w!

Nice memory and image. We were at Jenny Lake two years ago. Hillsdale (KS) State Park closed today due to flooding, believed to be the first time this happened, and more rain coming . . .

Nice connection. I have a picture of my husband and I at the floral clock and a picture of my parents there in the 50's.

Special moments when you think of your mom bring here. I expect the scene hasn't really changed.

What a lovely picture in every way. I love your spectacular subject, beautiful and perfect black and white processing, and - of course - your sentimental story. Fabulous, Milanie!

How wonderful to be able to photograph the view you had heard about when you were younger! Lovely in B&W too. Hope the floods weren't too bad.

Love this shot, looks great in b&w. It must mean a lot to capture the view that was so special to your mum.

Your editing to create the feeling of nostalgia is great. The flooding sounds miserable

This is beautiful, Milanie. I like the B&W edit, and how neat that your mom once stood in the same place, taking a very similar image.

(I'm sorry about the flooding. Same thing here in IL... rivers have been out of their banks for weeks, if not a couple of months. I've never seen so much mud in all my days of living here.)
