Crested Duck

I've only seen this duck once before at this pond - that pompadour sure is different from other ducks. Better on black.

We don't have many crested ducks but I do see them quite often on local ponds. There's a canal nearby and I'm told that there was a man who would buy exotic species of duck and let them loose on the canal. Consequently we have mandarins and some ducks with blue bills. I fancy that man was also responsible for the crested ducks.
