This Pine Tree Grows Them Large

Came across one tree (only this one) over at the Corps Park that had the largest pine cones laying under it that I'd ever seen - and so shiny they almost looked shellacked - this one measured 7". Brought home several - coated one with peanut butter and sunflower seeds and left it out. Still trying to tempt some birds.

That looks like the pine cone we brought home from Pisa, Italy. It's massive. the tree branches started about 20 feet up, so those things were falling on our tent all night. Kinda scary. LOL!

We get them pretty big down here also. Looks like that one would make a pretty good feeder. Great shot.

I remember collecting and bringing home huge cones in S Carolina many years ago. Just amazed by the size. I still have them. Good luck with the birds
