We visited Cleveland, Ohio, over the weekend and this was taken from the Terminal Tower Observation Deck in the heart of the downtown area. You can see Lake Erie in the background.
Thank you all so much for your comments and favs. I appreciate everyone of them. I love your photos, too.
Wonderful shot - amazing view. I haven't been to Cleveland in 40 years. I have cousins who used to live just south-east of the city. My aunt didn't like Cleveland at all. They ended up moving to Langley, WA on Woodly Island just off Seattle.
@pyrrhula I was afraid at first at how high it was but once we got to the observation deck, I discovered it was an enclosed room with windows to look out. It was not scary at all.
Oh wow! I was born in Cleveland and haven't been back there since 1973. When I left the only tall building was the Terminal Tower. I am wondering if Public Square looks the same with the old church and the statue. Would LOVE to see more photos. This is a beautiful shot and I never would have recognized it as being Cleveland at first view.
PS The only time I went to the observation deck of the Terminal Tower was when my dad took me. I was about 8 or 9 and I could have sworn I saw Canada on the horizon or at least I tried to ..... brings back memories. My mom and I used to like to watch the trains and shop in the arcade below.
@cimes1 So interesting about you being born in Cleveland. I don't remember seeing an old church and a stature, but I'm not the most observant person sometimes. LOL. I do have a couple more pictures I will post from Cleveland. I like your story about the observation deck and the arcade, too.
@cimes1 Great looking church and and monument. I don't remember seeing them. We were trying to find our way around. Now I wish I was more observant. Thank you for sharing the links.
The Soldiers and Sailors Monument (forgot what it was called when I first wrote) on Public Square across from The Terminal Tower: http://www.soldiersandsailors.com/monument_story.htm
