Black Llama? by mittens

Black Llama?

We saw this fellow in a yard on one of our drives. It's not something I'm used to seeing in our area. I guess it's a llama.

Some people are saying it's an alpaca which my husband also thinks it is, so I guess that's what it is.

Thank you so much for stopping by and thank you for your comments and favs. They mean so much to me.
Love it! I am obsesses with Alpaca. Never know for sure if I am seeing a llama or alpaca!

@mamamia Thank you Joanne. I've never heard of an Alpaca. Maybe that is what it is.

I didn't know they had llamas in the States. I always think of them in Peru. Wow, I'd be so excited to see something like this. Fabulous find and great capture!

He certainly needs a hair cut; we have an alpaca farm near us, they are so cute

Awesome shot

Really great shot Marilyn, pity about the wires, a little closer would have missed the wire.

You've got Ray and me having a discussion as to llama or alpaca!

@dannydavies Thank you Danny. I wish I hadn't have gotten the wires either, but I was in the car and we slowed down but were not able to stop the get closer.

@nanderson @claireuk @quietpurplehaze Thank you, Nancy, Claire, and Hazel. My husband thinks it's an alpaca, too. Hazel, if you and your husband come to a conclusion as to what it is, please let me know.

@mittens

I've googled 'llama + images' and 'alpaca + images' and I think you are right and it's a llama, which is what I thought too. Have a look. (refs are too long to send)

Ooh nice - we saw a field full of llamas today - or maybe alpacas - who knows!

I really don't know the difference. Great capture.

A great find :)

Beautiful color. I can never tell the difference. I do know the fur on the Alpaca is so, so wonderfully soft.
September 30th, 2013
Okay, I looked up the difference. This is definitely a Llama. Llamas have larger, banana type ears. Alpaca have very tiny ears.

Cool shot!

@quietpurplehaze @henrir I think you both are right. I just looked up llama and alpaca and from the description, it does look to be a llama. Thank you both for looking it up.
