There were a lot of robins fluttering around my backyard this morning. I'm guessing they were preparing to fly south for the winter. I managed to catch this one in my tree before he fluttered off.
Today I am thankful for medical professionals who save lives.
Love this Marilyn, fav. They may have been overwintering robins. Robins who don't fly south gather together in flocks for the winter (they don't form flocks in summer), and change their diet from insects to fruit, especially crabapples. Two or three winters ago I saw such a flock near where I live--there must have been at least fifty of them enjoying crabapples in a park where there are a lot of crabapples trees. That was in December, and there was snow on the ground.
@tristansmum Thank you Stephanie and thank you for the information about some robins staying for the winter. I have heard of that but since I saw so many, I just guessed they were moving south. Maybe what you said is what they were doing.
