In the foreground is the Cape Cod Canal railroad bridge in Bourne, MA near Buzzards Bay....this is a vertical lift bridge that is kept in the up position, only lowered for occasional land traffic. On the canal vessels have the right of way.....when the bridge has to be lowered permission must be received from the Army Corps of Engineers Canal Traffic Control Center. In the background you can see the Bourne Bridge, one of two bridges that span the canal. Automobile traffic can be pretty intense on a summer weekend though when we crossed the bridge this afternoon it seemed to have lightened up.
I remember the bridges well. I believe the other is the Sagamore Br. I used to fish the canal for striped bass with my step-dad. He belonged to the Saltwater Sportsman club. I remember this view well. Thanks for the memory :)
